About

Jessica Elder is a contemporary artist born in Upstate NY and based in Washington DC. Her background in mechanical engineering drives her artistic technique, which uses 3D modeling and 3D printing. Her art is made from 3D-printed plastic, acrylic paint, and resin, and its subject matter depicts bold and overtly feminine color schemes to challenge traditional uses of 3D printing. Elder often chooses to prioritize aesthetic appeal over meaning in her art, and hopes to evoke feelings of nostalgia and excitement in her viewers.

Elder opens her art studio to the public Thursdays through Sundays as a business practice; customers may create their own art using a wide variety of art supplies held in her studio. Her business — J Studio — can be viewed at jstudio.store.

Prior to running J Studio, Elder worked as an analyst for the CIA.
